Re: News on age extension to 65

Hi thanks for the good news. It is new to me that you have to contribute to the national pension scheme to be able to pay into IDECO when over 65, so I looked it up. I understand the information on this webpage https://www.aeonbank.co.jp/ideco/special/258/ such that this is only true if you wish to ...

Re: Buying a cottage

What you get when you buy a cottage in Japan depends very much on the place you are buying it. I own a cottage out in the sticks. Thanks for the info. By the way, people who became 60 in the meantime and had to stop payment will be able to resta...

Re: English speaking staff at tax offices?

I had a tax audit a few years ago. One of the people from the tax office was able to speak English to some extend. It turned out that he was especially trained to do tax audits on foreigners. He came from the next big city. (I live in the country side) So there are people that speak English and they...

Re: Maximum age extended to 65?

I have researched this matter and found that the age extension is decided already by the parlament, but will be in force from the time the ministry has issued the necessary implementing rules. Estimates are that this will take time and that it can be expected that the extension will come into force ...

Offsetting stock profits against bond losses

This year I have profits from stock trades and losses from bond trades. Can I deduct the losses from the bond trades from the profits of the stock trades and not pay taxes on either? What about the interest on the bonds. Can I deduct the bond losses from the interest payments as well?
