Accepting credit card payments

Post by KyushuWoozy »

For years we (kyushujourneys.com) have been using GMO as our credit card processor because they charge less than 2% transaction fee. However they want to increase our monthly fixed fee from ¥5,500 to ¥55,000!!! Can anybody recommend another local (Japanese) credit card processing company instead?

I know about Stripe, PayPal etc but their transaction fees and exchange rates are horrible, that's why I'm looking for local credit card processing company, thanks.

There's Komoju, it even has an English interface - https://en.komoju.com/

The rate is higher but there's no flat fee.

For anybody looking in the future, after checking out half a dozen options we landed very easily on Flywire.

Is there a chance you might have made a cost comparison table during your research/investigation period? That would be an amazing resource.

Flywire beat all others hands-down. I don't really feel comfortable publishing these rates online, not sure if they are commercially protected or not, however if anyone is seriously interested in obtaining a new (or changing their current) credit card processor, drop me a message. Please note however they only work with incorporated companies, not sole proprietors, and there is a fairly significant minimum annual transaction level.
