Paying my Japanese taxes with a U.S. credit card
Paying my Japanese taxes with a U.S. credit card
Is it possible to pay my Japanese taxes with a U.S. credit card? If so, are there any additional fees?

There are additional fees if you pay by Japanese credit card, so I imagine there will be additional fees if you pay by an American credit card. At least you will be getting a favourable exchange rate.

I don't know if this will be helpful or not, but I was helping a US friend with her Japanese taxes this year. In the end she owed some money and we asked the city tax accountant how she could pay. He said through the bank but since she had an account with Prestia, it wasn't so straightforward. He went away and did some kind of paperwork, and then gave her a QR code to use at the convience store. There is a selection you can make at the ticket machines for paying taxes. We scanned the code. She paid in cash, but I think that she probably could have paid by credit card. It was very straightforward and easy. I think that he said that the QR code was good for 2 weeks.

Thank you for your responses. I’ll try to find out how much the additional fees will be and then decide whether it’s worth it.
