The Japan Ministry of Justice Legal Affairs Bureau has set up a new human rights counseling service in several different languages. You have the option of email, telephone or face-to-face assistance.
They claim to assist with issues such as refusal of service, bullying and housing discrimination. (They don’t mention job discrimination for some reason. I am not sure if this is an oversight or just dealt with by a different department).
This may be a good alternative, for example, for dealing with a “no foreigners” policy when renting- rather than rolling the dice with a lawsuit and getting a fascist judge.
If anyone uses the service please let us know of your successes/failures.
