I opened a Nisa account with SBI . I needed to put some money into the SBI bank account. I applied to change my postal account to a swift account so that I could transfer the money. I asked them to do it at the P.O. counter, but the lady didn’t know how. It was finally done by mail. All was well, but then I couldn’t get it to work and transfer money to my SNI account.
What should I do?
Should I go to local postal office and try to get them to get it to work or should I try to fund my SBI account with another a bank account?
If bank are easier, which bank do you all recommend.
I am honestly so frustrated of trying to get all this to work I feel my brother was right in going to the local stock investment agent and asking them to do it all. He was in and out of there in 2 hours. Everything you say to do, was done.
Yet he has no ideas what it cost him for their service.
That was worrisome to me.

What is the issue? Getting the money from abroad into your account, or getting the money from your account into SBI?Oliver wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 4:51 am I opened a Nisa account with SBI . Here is how to transfer from Yucho->SBI Very easy once you set it up.
1. Sign up for Yucho Direct →https://www.jp-bank.japanpost.jp/direct ... ndex.html

SBI Name problem
Hello everyone
I got my postal swift account to work.
Unfortunately the NISA SBI account name doesn’t match.
My full name is more than 17 letters so I couldn’t put in my full name.
After calling them.
I was recommended to make a postal account transfer to bank account UFJ 3114640. This cost me 220 yen.
From UFJ bank they assured me that my money would reach SBI account.
Has anyone found a solution to this name problem?

I am having a similar issue with my new Shinsei account, I cannot connect it to Monex.
The solution is simple: You need to either change your name at the bank or SBI to match.
In my case, Shinsei sent me a request to change my name in the mail. Waiting on that.

The SBI account cannot be charged because my full name has more than 17 letters.
Postal bank account cannot change my name or (delete one of my names) because the have to use my ID which has my full name on it to make the postal bank account.

Agreed. And make sure you change it to the same as on your Zairyu Card and driving licence. The solution is simple: You need to either change your name at the bank or SBI to match.
I've had countless problems over the years with middle name, spaces, kana/romanji, etc. especially with the limitations online forms have when you make the initial application. You know what you should be entering but the validation built into the form just doesn't let you.
Specifically with SBI I was able to fix everything over the phone (which is much easier and quicker IMO) and then they sent me the docs with the changes by post for the verification.
Re: Postal account problem
Mine is 19 characters (with spaces) and it's no problem at SBI. They told you there was a limitation? The SBI account cannot be charged because my full name has more than 17 letters.
When I receive letters the last few characters are trucated from some companies but there is no issue with the actual name in the system.
Re: Postal account problem
I called SBI and asked them to update my name to my full name. They were kind, but could not help me.
They recommended that I open a Sumishin SBI net bank.
Does anyone have any experience with this internet bank?
They assured me that from this bank to SBI the bank transfer was free.
But, they couldn’t answer me about what was the cost of transferring money to this bank from an ATM or another bank account.
It make little difference to me if I need to transfer money from a postal account to the UFJ 3114640 for 220 yen (I tried it and it does transfer money to my SBI account)
or transfer money to this Sumishin SBI net bank for a similar transfer fee (220¥?) .

I just signed up for SBI myself, and a NetBank account was part of the package. My SBI account is up and running, but the NET bank ATM card is not here yetOliver wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 5:05 am I called SBI and asked them to update my name to my full name. They were kind, but could not help me.

(Our postman was confused about the name on the envelope so he called his senpai for help, I appreciate him not just giving up and failing to deliver it)
Currently my SBI account will not connect to Yucho either. It seems, you can manually change your name from within you SBI account, but you need to wait a week or so after opening the account. I'll try that and report back.
When I get the NetBank card I'll let you know how much Yucho-> SBI Net-> SBI Securities, is.
Finally, they can definitely change your name. Was there a specific issue they mentioned? Special characters or length?
