Rakuten brokerage: Difference between delivery price and amount withdrawing from my account
I have used my Rakuten brokerage account to buy plenty of stocks in the past without there being a difference between the delivery price of the stock and the amount withdrawn from my account. However, recently, I noticed a pretty big discrepancy (check the attached photo). I've been searching my account for why this might be the case, but I haven't found anything. I'm not buying the stock outside of trading hours and it doesn't matter whether the transfer is being made from my brokerage or bank account. What am I missing?

The value is the estimated price, and you've placed a market order. So they're taking an extra buffer from the account in case the price rises by the time the order is fulfilled.
I'm not sure if they will return the excess or leave it in your securities account, but you'll pay the price that the order was settled for.
In general it's better to place a limit order with a higher margin, than a market order. That avoids this problem, and also prevents a naaty surprise if the price rises quickly.

Thank you! That makes sense. It’s strange that it didn’t display like this before… or I didn’t notice it… (usually pay attention to numbers though)
