I'm not sure, if cryptography is broken, cryptocurrencies will be the least of the concerns. And if algorithms are updated to account for quantum computing, that will be applied to cryptocurrencies too.

Yep, if/when anyone works out a an easy/efficient way to factor large numbers then most of the cryptography the internet relies on is fucked.

It's a great mistake to reject doing the minimum research about Bitcoin (just read a single book, "The Bitcoin Standard", and then when you get the basics,follow some relevant twitter/youtube accounts (if you understood the book, it will be easy to find that people. It is not an optional matter, in these times of global currency debasement and public debt madness

It's a great mistake to reject doing the minimum research about Bitcoin (just read a single book, "The Bitcoin Standard", and then when you get the basics,follow some relevant twitter/youtube accounts (if you understood the book, it will be easy to find that people. It is not an optional matter, in these times of global currency debasement and public debt madness

Not sure that is a fact. If you are interested in crypto, have away. Not necessary for everyone though.

I guess if I know I lost 10,000 or even a million yen, I will always know it was 10,000 or a million yen. But this poor guy must have a lot watching the price of BTC go up in value. He will have this mental pain on his mind for decades to come or even till his deathbed. Until BTC can solve that problem...I'll stay away.

Totally! I don’t think I could sleep with the lose. As the lose financially keeps getting bigger and bigger in his mind.
I wonder if the hard drive even be functioning if it was dug up.This certainly one reason why we still need cash.

This is why many are waiting on ETFs. Setup a separate brokerage, buy a Bitcoin/Ether ETF there.

That way, if anything happens, the fund is responsible and you are covered up to 10 million yen via the brokerage.

I assume the industry will probably have policies to mitigate this risk if crypto ETFs come to Japan.
