December Tsumitate purchase showing up in 2024 NISA

Post by 5lions »

I had been using the tsumitate NISA with Rakuten for 2023; I funded it with a large bonus purchase in January 2023, and then 1,000 yen for each month the rest of the year.
This year I have set up tsumitate for 100,000 yen worth each month using half credit card and half direct rakuten bank withdrawals.
I didn't realize it, but my last tsumitate purchase of 2023 (which went through on Dec. 28) didn't enter my possession until January, and now I have that December purchase added to my tsumitate for this year.

What I want to know is, at the end of the year when I finish up with 1,201,000 yen invested, will it kick just the amount I go over in December into my tokutei, or will it refuse to process my final 50,000 yen tsumitate purchase at all?

EDIT: I guess I don't have image uploading privileges yet, I was showing an image of my 2024年のNISA投資額 showing it at 101,000 for January.

If your investment exceeds 1.2 million yen , the excess amount will be subject to tax and will be transferred to a taxable account (specified account/general account) other than your NISA account.

投資で120万円を超えたら、超えた分は課税対象となり、NISA口座以外の課税口座(特定口座・一般口座)へ移管されます。

Seems like any extra gets dumped into your taxable.

Thanks for the reply, that seems reasonable.
It's only going to be 1000 yen so juggling my tsumitate allocations for the rest of the year to come to an even 1.2 million doesn't seem worth the trouble.

My experience with setting up a tsumitate that goes over on Rakuten is that the tsumitate order that will put you over gets rejected and not put into a taxable account. The entire order just fails.
