SBI証券ポイントサービス

Post by TJKansai »

I saw this on the SBI site and am now wondering if I have been missing out on useful points.

Is this something worth figuring out before we start filling up our New NISA?

Seems the options include T/d/JAL/paypay etc.

I've had T-Point linked to my SBI account for ages.
It's basically a form a mileage for the amount you own of a qualifying investment. (Average holding across the preceding months. Some have a higher payout if you hold over 1,000man of the investment.)

https://search.sbisec.co.jp/v2/popwin/i ... leage.html

Those are what you'd get annually but it's distributed monthly.
Value of investment * the percentage shown / 12 to see what you'd get monthly.

The rate for several popular funds dropped significantly a while ago. All Country by more than half! I've no idea why.

It's still enough to buy me a kebab each month which is OK.
(Only "OK" as I eat at least one kebab a week).

I'm on Ponta. Everything in Lawson was free for me for a while.
Now I've set it to automatically use the points for the Tsumitate portion of the NISA. How sensible.

Human psychology is a weird thing. I've known for ages that I should set up my point card to automatically contribute to my tsumitate NISA, and every post on this board that mentions the subject reminded me to do it, but I always put it off. "It'll likely be a rigmarole to set it up and there'll probably be name consistency issues, and I can't be arsed dealing with that right now," etc.

Today I read this post...

...and for some reason, that was the trigger that got me to actually set the thing up. It took just a couple of minutes to complete. Why was that post the one to spur me to action? Why not any of the others I've read on this board? Why not some other event or notice or comment from somewhere other than RetireJapan? Weird...

There is a weird thing I’ve noticed about this company.

They seem to have plenty of choices when it comes to whether you want
T-points, D-points etc. but they don’t seem to offer just plain and simple SBI points that would be easy to use if a person wants to use them to invest.
I imagine there are ways to receive say T points and then invest them, though it sounds quite troublesome to set up. Is it?

One naive question I have is, can a person instead make a credit card that for example earns T-points, JAL points etc, and register THAT card with sbi rather than say a simple T-card? Maybe more points can be earned that way, and it might be more secure.

After all, some money was stolen from investor accounts a few years back, according to the news.

I think you're confusing credit card points and usage and the SBI point system.

T-points are available on almost anything. Credit Cards, Tsutaya membership cards, mobile versions, etc. Ponta and d-Points are just different flavors. SBI is actually quite good to their customers since they don't force only one type of points unlike Rakuten.

Tpoint and Vpoint are merging this year, so this will simplify things.

The new system will give Rpoint a run for its money.
