I think that US citizens cannot open accounts at Japanese brokers. That's the case, right? So I think that Rakuten, SBI and Money are probably not available to me.
If it's not too much trouble, could you post the current rates for USD T-bonds, MMF, and Time deposits at these institutions? I'm wondering what I'm missing out on. (If anything)

Americans can indeed open accounts, and they can trade Japanese equities. As for current rates, I am sure you can Google those yourself. Monex, Rakuten and SBi for exchanges. Shinsei, Sony, SMBC and the like for Time deposits.

It is on the top page of their website, and they sent out email this week.
Aiming to retire at 60 and live for a while longer. 95% index funds (eMaxis Slim etc), 5% Japanese dividend stocks.

They've bumped it up to 4.7% (US$ only)
It's very easy to buy if you have a Prestia account. Especially if you already have US$ in a US$ account. Though converting yen to $ is less painful than it has been recently.
