Transfer in to iDeCo

Post by JapaneseMike »

Thanks to whomever posted the link to the iDeCo simulator on another thread.

It got me thinking as there's a specific question about 'money you are transferring in from another DC'

I have a 'frozen' DC from a former employer back in the UK. The funds aren't great, but it's not terrible. But, given the current GBP exchange rate and the current market condition, transferring these into iDeCo may not be a bad idea.

Do you think that's possible / has anyone any experience of it. FYI, I already have an iDeCo for the last 3-4 years.

As far as I understand it, iDeCo cannot be transferred overseas. Not sure about receiving from overseas but I imagine its the same idea. The Japanese government has to be administering it for any kind of transfer to work.

yeah, this will be for Japan-based DC plans.
Nice try, though... :)
Aiming to retire at 60 and live for a while longer. 95% index funds (eMaxis Slim etc), 5% Japanese dividend stocks.
