I am a Canadian citizen and hold investments in Canada in US and CDN (stocks, ETFs, bonds) with a large firm in Toronto.. I am going to close the account and transfer my money to Japan, where I have been residing for 30 years.
The firm does not have a branch in Japan. I was advised to seek the help of a cross border tax accountant to assist with the closing and paying tax in Canada and repatriating the money to my bank account in Japan.
I am having trouble finding a tax account who can do this work. Does anyone have any leads? Ideally, the person will speak English, but I can manage in Japanese if necessary.
