I have no idea but I'll try to find out more.
I think I'm just going to stick to index investing in my NISA account.

Re: Crypto's going crazy again!
Not excited at all since I have no idea what drives the prices. Surprisingly, and don't ask me why but my wife got into crypto about a month ago after attending a seminar and put in ¥300,000 which I obviously advised against but she says its currently worth ¥1,600,000. Either she knows what she's do...
Re: Exit tax
Is this the same "Exit tax" as the one implemented since 2015 or the 1000 yen "Tourist tax" starting this year. I assume its the former and I have found an English summary below. On the second page is a summary and who it applies to. https://www.mof.go.jp/english/tax_policy/publi...

Re: Long term Life Insurance vs possibility of leaving Japan
My insurance person told me that all insurance companies require you to have residency/physical address in Japan because they are afraid of not being able to find you when its pay time. Unofficially, he told me that you could technically continue paying the premiums while not physically being in the...

Re: Help understanding SBI table
I know some foreign brokers allows you to specify which lots to sell but not sure of Japanese brokers. I searched around but was not able to find any official information besides from Japanese forums. According to them, if you have purchased the same stock at different prices/dates, when you sell th...

Re: Help understanding SBI table
I'm with Rakuten and mine shows the 平均取得単価 (Average purchase price) which makes more sense. According to https://faq.sbisec.co.jp/faq_detail.html?id=11060, in a 特定口座, the 取得単価 is the Moving average price (移動平均価格) including fees. I'm not sure what they mean by moving average though. The 約定価格 is the a...

Re: Any recommended app for portfolio management?
I use ShareSight which is free for one portfolio, https://itunes.apple.com/app/sharesight ... 41214?mt=8. It also has a tax reporting feature. You can set your country, ie Japan or Australia and it automatically adjusts the fiscal year as well.

Re: Resources about starting your business in Japan
Hi everyone, great post. I am currently employed by a company but I would like to start small consulting business as sole proprietorship in parallel. I would like to know how do you make your invoices for your service and what kind of information is mandatory. Also, I'll be curious if you are using...

Re: 2019 NISA allowance
Actually I did see that fund as well but decided on the ex-Japan fund for a few reasons: 1. I'm already investing in individual stocks in Japan so I feel like I don't need to double dip. 2. I wanted some more weighing on the emerging markets but not confident in going for the complete Emerging marke...

Re: 2019 NISA allowance
I've also been thinking about how to use my NISA this year after reading this forum. I played around with it last year as I didn't actually understand how it worked. I'm thinking of spreading it out throughout the year. I'm planning for 100% stocks and am thinking of just the 1 fund for now, the eMa...
