Re: Simple Q&A - NISA

I was wondering how I would go about selling bonds on Rakuten Securities? Is it possible to sell the whole amount or can I only to sell in increments? I'm a bit short on cash at the moment so I might have to sell some of my investments. It depends how you hold the bonds / funds. You should be able ...

Re: Simple Q&A - iDeCo

I haven't opened an iDeCo yet because I don't know how long I plan to stay in Japan.

However, if I do open an iDeCo and I do decide to leave Japan in the future, would I be able to close it and get all the money back? I've read that we cannot take any money until we actually reach retirement age.

Re: Nenkin Lost Years

How many years do we need to pay in order to get the full pension? 40. Basic Pension: Kokumin Nenkin That probably excludes a lot of foreign residents then because it would mean they'd have to be in Japan from 20 years old. Have many years can we back pay? I've read it is only two years. Does our f...

Re: 10 Q&As about the new NISA

I have an account with Rakuten Securities at the moment (since 2021, as I have already mentioned) so do I need to do anything if I want to continue using the NISA account with Rakuten Securities? No, it should be automatic. For example, do I need to inform that I want to switch to the new NISA or d...

Re: 10 Q&As about the new NISA

I'm currently on a regular NISA (since August 2021) and it is due to run for 5 years - would it be better wait until the 5 years is nearly up before transferring to the new NISA or should I transfer to it as soon as possible? As I understand it, your 2021 NISA will still run until 2026, but you can...

Re: Nenkin Lost Years

How many years do we need to pay in order to get the full pension? I keep reading different figures.

I only started paying into the pension since I was 33 and I'm on National Insurance as opposed to Company Insurance if that makes any difference.

Tax Returns for NISA Accounts

I realise that this is probably very late in asking but I only thought about it just now. Do we need to file a tax return for NISA accounts? According to the website I don't need to, at least for 2021, but I just want to double-check on here. If not, what situation would I need to? I'm guessing if I...
