Re: Simple Q&A - NISA
I mean there's a risk that the market may go down over next months, so go all in at once or gradually at once? Quite a tricky one, I think. You have 2 risks: 1) If you put the lump sum in and the price promptly falls the next day you will be kicking yourself. 2) If you spread it out over too long a...

Re: NISA Rakuten Application
on a side note - It took 8 days to from application for Rakuten account and NISA to getting mail, saying my application has been accepted. Looks like I got lucky! My account was just opened as well. Also quite fast, once I got over the katakana requirement for my name. Paper application was not nee...

Re: Cryptocurrencies
I use a ledger. It works fine, but I still get super paranoid connecting it to my PC incase I have viruses or something. I see! Personally I have been thinking of getting one like the ledger NANO X. Since I would personally like to hold on crypto even after moving out of japan, thinking of getting ...

Re: Simple Q&A - Stock market investing
If a non-US person buys US domiciled funds and stocks while residing in Japan through an international broker, he/she only gets taxed on the dividends that his portfolio has(which is done by withholding taxes from US). Unless and until there's an event of sale, he/she would not be taxed by Japan, r...

Re: Simple Q&A - Stock market investing
just a quick question which came to my mind! Re: NISA Rakuten Application
MyNumber - I work in IT and have no faith at all that the Japanese government is capable of securely managing a centralized database of sensitive information. Hence have always avoided getting the card and linking my whole life to it. But it seems more and more useful / necessary for a bunch of pap...

Re: Simple Q&A - NISA
Another simple question maybe! I opened the NISA and now want to buy some funds in it. Basically will go with everyone's favourite Emaxis slim series and something else if it looks interesting. Fortunately, I can completely max out the NISA limit in the first buy itself. I think Adamu linked somewhe...

Re: Simple Q&A - NISA
But you can go with a bonus payment. Set up the minimum payment of 100 yen per month for each security you want to invest in, then setup a bonus payment for the next month that equals 400k - (100 * #securities * #remaining months). Could you explain more about this? Tried my head to understand it b...

Re: Cryptocurrencies
I hold a little of ETH in decimal points! small wins count!
out of curiosity, anyone uses cold wallets such as ledger or any other brand for holding coins?
Although my current portfolio in crypto is pretty less, but I want to increase it a little bit when things lose steam a little bit.
