Re: Have PR, but living outside of Japan. Do I owe any Japanese taxes?
Worldwide inheritance and gift tax kicks in with a spouse visa or PR, or after 10 years on a working visa. Ah-ha, so there is a downside to PR. Yes, that is interesting, assuming that applies also if you are not actually living in Japan but have PR. These are the official tax regulations from the t...

Re: Have PR, but living outside of Japan. Do I owe any Japanese taxes?
I think it’s being actually resident (living) in Japan, and having been so for 5 of the previous 10 years, that makes you liable for worldwide tax. The fact that you are not actually residing in Japan now means that you are free from obligations on income, local, health, pension etc, but I don’t th...

Have PR, but living outside of Japan. Do I owe any Japanese taxes?
I have a Japanese PR, but have been living outside of Japan for the past two years. When we left Japan, I told the ward office I was moving outside of Japan and unregistered my address (jyuminhyou). Do I have any tax obligations to Japan while I am not living there even though I have a PR? Specifica...

Re: iDeCo for Americans
My understanding is that all iDeco investments are mutual funds. That means they will be treated as PFICs by the IRS. Your best strategy is probably to have your wife max out her contributions.

Re: PSA: Shinsei bank to end International Cash Card (Overseas ATM) service
Just a curious question--does anyone know if Interactive Brokers offer an international cash card? (I've just browsed their site, but since I don't have an account with them...) They offer international ATM cards only to their American customers. They say they have plans to offer the cards to custo...

I believe you can also access the funds early if you are permanently disabled.

Re: SBI Monthly Investment Statements
Sure, but I want to know what my past balances were. It's October now, but I want to see what the value was at the end of September.goodandbadjapan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 06, 2018 2:46 am You can check daily if you want on the website. Just click on portfolio or if you go to your account page you can see everything there, too.

SBI Monthly Investment Statements
Hello,
For anyone else using SBI, do they provide monthly performance statements? I can only find yearly reports under (トータルリター). I want to my know what my account balances were at the end of each month.
Cheers,
Ben

Re: eMaxis Slim dividend reinvestment
Yes, I believe that is correct.JapaneseMike wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 10:52 pm
I think that aligns with what adamu said above, if that's the case then there isn't really a difference in selecting the receive dividend or reinvest dividend courses when selecting these funds
Right?
