For 2021, my total pension received was ¥1.9million. My part-time earnings were a similar ¥1.9million. My husband's pension i...

Re: Anyone enrolled in the Private school mutual aid pension?
I worked for 25.5 years at a private university, something of a black employer. I now receive, per year, about Y1.6million from the private university pension and a laughable ¥426,000 per year from the national public pension.

Did you have to pay everything in US dollars first, then submit receipts and some kind of write-up from the doctor/hospital?

Re: I mentioned I would post what I am getting on my Kokumin Japanese Pension
Thanks for explaining about WEP. Now I understand the situation of a friend of mine, who returned to the US after 25 years of work in Japan. She also qualified for US Social Security. Everyone hears about how you can COMBINE the Japanese pension and SS. So I didn't understand why my friend said that...

Pension = ¥2 million (combined national pension and private university pension) Part-time job = ¥2 million Thus, a total income of ¥4 million. Kokumin kenko hoken (national health insurance) = ¥224,...

That blog is interesting.
Like the blogger, I am actually in my third year of retirement (retired March 31, 2019). His kokumin hoken payment went down dramatically from the second to the third year.
I'll read more.

Re: Shakai/Kokumin kenko hoken? - how expensive after retirement?
About kaigo hoken. I am 67 years old, two years post-retirement from my full-time job but still with income from a part-time job. My kaigo hoken payment is about ¥12,000/month. I am waiting to find out what my kokumin hoken payment will be for this year. Last year, it was more than ¥33,000/month. Th...

Re: Kokumin kenko hoken
You definitely have to pay for kokumin kenko hoken after age 65. You also have to pay for kaigo hoken.
