I know that there are deductions available for the primary breadwinner in such a situation but am not clear on how the dependent themselves is treated. I have seen a figure of 1.03million yen that can be earned before income tax kicks in for dependents but I wonder if that only applies to employees and not the self employed filing a white return, whose personal allowance would normally be 380k? Or are there special rules for dependents?

Anyone with experience/knowledge?
