I like the Japanese approach of giving the option to retire early but with a lower pension Vs just pushing the retirement age later.

This also opens a lot of options for all of us when we approach 60; in particular we will be able to receive a lower pension early if the financial markets are significantly down and we want to wait another few years for our investments to recover.

Sounds good on paper,but you might not get it when it's your turn.People might rather get when they can,than hope in waiting they'll get more.First come,first served.
