Social Security: Bilateral Treaty

Hi Retire Japan,

I am a newbie from Oregon living in Tokyo since October.
In my understanding, Japan and the U.S. have bilateral agreement, but I am curious on knowing how this work. Do I need to report to Social Security that I am working in Japan since October, and I need to ask them to honor the years that I have been working in Japan kind of thing? I will appreciate your feedback regarding this matter.
