That is just NISA and not the Tsumitate Nisa. I am sure the discussion here is not over yet.

Bit of a blow, this one. Had hopes that they would make NISA like the UK ISA, ie remove the time limits to make it a useful vehicle to save for retirement.
Truly rich people are not going to care about 1.2m a year, but for people in our community it would have made a big difference I think.
In practice investing in tsumitate NISA or even investing in mutual funds in taxable accounts is going to provide us with similar benefits, so not the end of the world.
Disappointing nontheless

Maybe increase the limit for Tsumitate NISA?
400,000/year investment is low to cover retirement needs, even combined with IDECO 23,000/month

I wonder what will happen with the Junior NISA? I guess it will also be discontinued.

Junior NISA currently due to run until 2023:

That is the last year that can currently be funded, although there is a chance it will be extended or replaced with something similar.
