確定拠出年金 automatic registration with IDECO?
確定拠出年金 automatic registration with IDECO?
So I signed up for IDECO. My company as its own DB(?) so I couldn't get iDECO for the full amount. Anyway on the week that my iDECO was finally approved, I see a withdrawal from my bank account for "確定拠出年金". I never had this automatic withdrawal before. Is it correct to assume that upon signing up for iDECO I am automatically signed up for 確定拠出年金? Though if that is the case why didn't they just withdraw from my salary and not from my bank account?

My understanding is the iDeCo and 確定拠出年金 are the same thing.
Your employer has the option of deducting the monthly payments from your salary, but they don't have to and you have to ask them to. Otherwise they'll be taken from your bank account.
Having them deducted from salary is perhaps better, as your taxes get reduced automatically, rather than by submitting a paper at the end of the year as happens with bank deductions.

確定拠出年金 = Defined Contribution Pension
It's usually prefixed by 個人型 = individual.
個人型確定拠出年金 = individual Defined Contribution Pension - iDeCo.

Hmm if its the iDECO withdrawal, it does not reflect on my ideco account which still is 0 yen.
Actually I only identified it via a katakana spelling of 確定拠出年金 in my bank statement.
