Sending large amount abroad to buy property

I'm planning to buy a property in Korea and will need to transfer a large amount. While I like Wise, there is a yearly limit how much I can transfer into Korea and it is significantly lower than what I need to transfer.
I guess my main option is to use a regular bank? Has anybody transfered large amounts of yen abroad before? Anything I need to be aware of?

In addition, I'm planning to send the money to my wife's account in Korea since I don't have an account myself. However, I will buy the property in my name using the money from my wife's bank account. I believe this way there is no money gift/gift tax involved. And I should be able to show the money trail if e.g. tax authorities would question me. Does that sound right?

Maybe you could investigate whether it’s easier to simply do a bank transfer to your lawyer when it comes to buying the house. That way you avoid any issues with gift tax.
