Increasing spending limit on credit cards

As my parents get older, the likelihood of suddenly needing to hop on a flight back to the U.K. is ever increasing. However, the chance of getting said flight for under 200,000 yen is ever decreasing.
200,000 yen is my spending limit on my JP Bank card. I’d like to increase that to 400,000 maybe even 500,000 so I can easily pay for a flight when I need it in a hurry and can worry about paying the credit card bill later.
The JP Post website says to call if I want to either increase my spending limit or to just increase it for a one time purchase. I’d rather increase the spending limit permanently.
Does anyone have any experience of applying to increase their spending limit? Were forms involved? Do I need to show any proof of income or anything like that?
Many thanks for any guidance
