NISA hits 21M individual accounts (~19% increase)

Article says there's been a 19% increase in NISA accounts as of December 2023 compared to December 2022 (so this doesn't even include New NISA and the marketing campaigns around it)

Its a pretty big jump so its good to hear people have started using it more and more.

That's great but still a bit disappointing (a lot of those accounts are not being actively used).

Hopefully we can get those numbers up going forward :D

I'd say it's still good news that these new accounts have been created.

One of the big pains of NISA is actually getting an account started. The owners of these new accounts have just jumped a big hurdle -- they're now ready and set to make some NISA investments. When that will happen -- who knows. But at least they won't have to wait weeks for verification.

Anecdotally more and more young people from my company has been talking about NISA and investing for their future (of course they talk about speculation and day-trading too but hey, one step at a time)
