When do we think is a good time to sell out funds in the taxable parts, before the new year or after?
Also can i ask if we choose to sell, I am assuming the price will be set when the order is executed and not on the delivery date?

It’s the 28th today so probably for most funds you might sell the settlement will be in the new year anyways.
Then, my thinking as of today is that I will not hurry to sell taxable account funds (for the purpose of rebuying in NISA). I would like to do that after seeing some market weakness, or further yen strength. E.g. I would want to sell when my taxable profits are lower than they would be if I sold today.
I may not sell at all, and only fund NISA with new money, depending on how things play out.
For a Japan mutual fund, the price your sale will execute at will typically be the day after you put your order in, this us the kijun kakaku. If you put you order in before 3 pm you might get the kijun kakaku fixed at 3 pm on the morrow, but it depends on the specific fund.

I always think it's better avoid market timing, so I would say: If you already have the cash reserves to buy, then buy & sell on the same day. Otherwise just try to make your sell and buy dates as close together as possible.
