Just received an email saying Rakuten is going to reduce the purchase fees for US stocks to $5-20 per transaction, bringing them in line with SBI.

Excellent news. Vive la competition dans le marche

From September 25th.

I am thrilled about that one, for me that now opens up some monthly savings to american etfs, that will help build the portfolio that I want quite a bit.
