Japan market - time to take some gains?

I have a few Japanese dividend stocks.
The usual suspects, I guess.
I will need some money in 1-2 years so I am thinking about taking some gains. Many of these stocks are up 60 to 100% since I bought them just a couple of years ago.
Anyone else considering consolidating gains from individual Japanese stocks?
(Most of my portfolio is in index funds.)

Sold my only individual Japanese stock last month for a capital gain. Then was pleasantly surprised to get the dividend (33,000 yen) today

What was your investment strategy/plan when you bought them?
Why are you now changing your strategy?

It was an attempt to show how clever I am by beating the market.
Highly successful, so far...
Seriously, they are all dividend stocks. Plan was to generate a bit of income from these dividends and see how I felt about getting this extra income (mostly taxed).
'Strategy', for what it was, may change because of the huge gains these stocks have made.
I will need some money for uni fees so taking from the MUFJ gains, for example, seems sensible as I probably got lucky with my purchase timing.
