SMBC GOLD NL cannot be used for SBI tsumitate, why?

I am considering opening an SBI securities account for NISA tsumitate (starting 2024) with an SMBC GOLD NL.

However, it seems this is not allowed by this CC. The following is in Japanese, so I could be completely off.

That page explains what counts towards the 1M yen spend you need to hit in the year to become eligible for no annual card fees. Any Tsumitate payments (which can be done from that card) are not included in the count.

Indeed you'll get 500 yen for a 5万 tsumitate with gold NL, but it won't count towards your 1 million goal. That would be too sweet a deal sadly.

The tsumitate plan does pay for the card though (plus 1000 yen). We wanted a gold card for travel, etc.

I needed to send an email to SBI initially to add the card due to dreaded name mismatch issues, but they were quick and helpful.

The platinum gives 5%, but I don't travel enough to justify it.

He probably meant that the points you get for being able to do tsumitate on SBI is enough to pay for the yearly fee even if you don't hit the (generous) limit.

You can use your v-points to pay your CC bill so yes.
