Howdy fellow tax-optimizers,
Last year I sold some stock off a foreign (thus not 特定) account, and got a few 万 of capital loss to offset against capital gain for the next 3 years.
My issue is that almost all my investments are on a 特定 account now, meaning that if I sell there, capital gain tax will be taken right away without regard for capital loss budget.
Is there a way to declare the selling of assets on a 特定 and get that tax back? If so, I suppose this would happen when filling the 確定申告? Does someknow know how to do this?
Can you offset capital losses off a 特定 account?
Re: Can you offset capital losses off a 特定 account?
It prob won't help much but I'll just post what SBI told me. They said that if I sell at a loss, they will balance it at the end of the year with any capital gains I made. I think if you handle all the taxes yourself, you might be able to carry it over for longer than a year.

If I'm not mistaken you should be able to switch your tokutei account from withholding to non-withholding (徴収なし?)
Then you'd be able to print out the gains/losses from that, and combine with your other accounts losses, and file the whole lot as a 確定申告.

Unearthing this topic to mention that an answer has been found on this other post.
Basically one just needs to get the 特定口座年間取引報告書 and enter its information on the 確定申告. If there are loss to offsets, they will be taken into account and a tax refund will be possible.
