Any opinion on whether the present (up to April2023) IBKR (IB LLC) is considered domestic or foreign, regarding foreign assets reporting?
(You are supposed to report your overseas assets if over 50million yen (385,000 USD).
I assumed that IB was domestic (because the address is in Kasumigaseki and the website and phone support handles Japanese).
I think IB was in a sort of grey area up to now - half Japan-based, half foreign-based. The switch to IBSJ is closing this loophole.
