So, after a lot of back and forth I finally managed to log into my Monex account today and deposit some money. Trying to buy some vanguard ETFs led me to the realisation that there is another step, opening a foreign trading account. This is now done and should, hopefully, be processed by tomorrow.
There seems to be one outstanding problem however, clicking on NISA login says that my NISA account is not ready yet. Does anyone know how long it takes for the NISA account login to become available after your main Monex account has been opened?

I'm not sure, to be honest. Was a long time ago!

However, NISA eligibility has to be checked by the government, so I guess it would take a little longer (not as long as iDeCo though!).

Anyone else?

I did the process with SBI, but it took me 1 week to get the final validation from the government and the account was already ready to use after that!

Got in contact with Monex directly, it seems I didn't apply for a NISA account, only a regular Monex account... oops...
Anyway I've clicked the apply button now and it says 1-2 weeks so problem solved.

I'm liking the Monex interface and the ability to use the English Tradestation desktop and iOS app is very nice indeed. Just have to deal with Japanese for the money transfer part.
