How do people pay their UK National Insurance contributions?

Hello,

I was wondering, how do people pay their UK National Insurance contributions while they're living abroad?

I'm asking because I want to know if there is a way to pay it, from Japan, without paying any bank handling charges, etc.

Thank you.

I still have an active bank account with NatWest that I keep a fair amount of cash in (enough to pay my various bills, NI contributions, charitable donations, etc.).

At the moment, UK bank account.
Hopefully I will be able to keep that account...

I have paid it via bank transfer to sort code / account number from both a UK bank and Wise. With Wise the fee was 214 yen.

Instructions are on the wiki: https://retirewiki.jp/wiki/United_Kingd ... g_payments

As far as I know, I haven't checked in a while, I'm paying via direct-debit from an old Nationwide account in the UK...
After reading what has happened to a few people on here with their DD mysteriously stopping, I should maybe check this evening...

You can pay by bank cheque. I found an old checkbook from years ago and that worked.

I have always used a cheque for the year. The bank just sent me a knew book too. Great to pay bills and tell people its in the post, and it gives me a few extra days leeway. ( just like the old days cashing a cheque before payday) :D

Each month, I transfer money from my Japanese bank account to Wise, then it goes from Wise to my UK NatWest account.
I pay Class 2, so it's not much at all.
