We have a few different threads that mix in solar panels, but nothing with this heading.

For those with panels already, how many kWh is your system and how much did it cost you? How many years will it be before you break even?


There is an ongoing campaign for group buys in many areas of Japan. We put our names in and hope to get an estimate in September or October.

We had solar panels included in our mortgage when we built the house. It's a 4kW system (I believe), and don't remember how much it cost. But for me it was an investment in quality of life. Consuming the solar power we generate means I can run the airconditioner 24/7 in summer and keep the house at a very comfortable level and keeping monthly energy bills down. The fact that I'm not fretting over how much we're spending on energy bills each month is a huge bonus to me over the possibility of saving and investing the money initially.
