Personal contributions to Australian Super.

Another pesky question here relating to the subject topic. Would anyone be familiar with the tax implications (as a tax resident here in Japan) on personal contributions to Australian Super?

You can claim a Tax Allowance in your Kakutei Shinkoku Return for overseas pension contributions.

Thank you for your response. I will look into that option, although as I'm a low income earner, I'm not certain that it would be applicable.

This is interesting. Would that also apply to UK voluntary contributions to the State Pension?

p28 seems to be talking about Japanese pension and ancillary schemes (iDeCo, small business savings scheme). No mention of overseas pensions, unless I am missing something?

Do you have a Japanese reference for this?

This article suggests you can only deduct France's social insurance premiums. Also tallies with the relevant Q&A page on NTA's website and the subject page it links to.

According to the links, foreign countries need to have concluded the pertinent tax treaty on this with Japan, and currently only France has done so.
