Getting a mortgage with health problems

Hi everyone, I'm in the process of purchasing a property, and all was going smoothly...until now. I had a transplant 4 years ago and all is well now - I never stopped working, but as all this info has to be disclosed I am freaking out about being turned down for the mortgage because I can't join the required mortgage insurance.

One option is wide danshin, which accepts people with health problems at a higher interest rate, but I am still concerned that I can't even enter this. Does anyone have any experience of wide danshin? What if you got turned down for that too? Is one bank's wide danshin easier to enter than another's?

I realise this might be a niche topic, but any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I got turned down by a local bank because of a pre-existing health condition, but I was approved by SMBC for a regular loan. I was told they have a closer relationship with their insurance provider and are more willing to consider things on a case-by-case basis. They required an examination and a letter from my doctor.

I think a lot of people end up just not disclosing their conditions, though I wouldn't recommend doing that.

Thank you for your reply, I'm glad you could get a loan in the end. I am applying through Mizuho right now - it seems there is an option to forgo the danshin altogether if I can't enter the wide danshin, as long as I can get a decent private life insurance.
