Hi,

Since they gave us a month extension this year, I am still working on my taxes and looking for any reductions I may be able to use!
I believe someone told me that we cannot use capital loss carryover (against capital gains on stocks-not dividends) for foreign held stocks, but cannot find any information anywhere.
Has anyone ever used it here?

Edit: I found the answer (not the one I wanted but...) I called the tax office and they said that we cannot use capital loss carryovers from stocks held in foreign brokerages, only for stocks held in Japanese brokerages.

Yep, carrying over is not possible for stocks purchased via foreign brokers. There is a good description of the rules here.
