Alternative to Email Notifications

Getting a bit more active in these forums and am wondering what alternative solutions there are for email notifications? I downloaded Tapatalk for iOS, but when I searched "RetireJapan" there were no results. I assumed that all phpBB forums would be compatible, but I guess an admin would have to submit it to Tapatalk to be registered? Thank you.

It is not exactly a notification system, but the active topics page is useful for keeping up with the latest posts.

It's a great question, and I don't know the answer I'm afraid.

My system is just to log in and then I see topics with new posts in red so just click around those...

Anyone more familiar with phpBB able to provide more info?

I usually use the unread posts link

search.php?search_id=unreadposts

Open everything that looks interesting in new tabs, then click the "mark all read" to skip anything that descended into political opinion.

Thanks for the info. What I meant was a notification for a reply to a new post I wrote or thread I want to follow.

I think you only get this if someone quotes you (like this).

Hm… I mean mobile push notification rather than email "Notify me when a reply is posted". Tapatalk does this, but I think the forum admin has to opt in. Are you guys familiar with Tapatalk? Thanks.

I know of it, but haven't used it. There is a Tapatalk extension that needs to be installed to get it to work with phpBB. However the extension is not supported officially by phpBB, and there are some threads on their support forums with cautions about it.

Unfortunately setting up the forum in the first place is about as technical as I get, so barring the site suddenly making enough money to hire tech support, this is as good as it gets for now
