FYI -Two Vanguard Funds available in Rakuten iDeCo

I was doing some late-year sleuthing with my Rakuten NISA account (because I had to cash out from one ETF, bought some Rakuten-Vanguard funds with that money) and I just happened to check the iDeCo side too... and I noticed there are now 30 funds there.

Took a closer look and it's the new Rakuten-Vanguard funds I think

030 楽天全米株式バンガード楽天DC
031 楽天全世界株バンガード楽天DC

and the cost is quite low (for ideco):
楽天・全米株式インデックス・ファンド(楽天・バンガード・ファンド(全米株式))0.1696 %
楽天・全世界株式インデックス・ファンド(楽天・バンガード・ファンド(全世界株式))0.2396 %

Maybe everybody knows already but I thought this was the right subforum for this :)

It has almost been a year...
Anyone with these funds care to share their experience?
I'm curious about the tax situation on these funds...
Thanks.

They're fund of funds, so the structure results in triple taxation on everything inside except the US stocks(so the US only one is reasonably good, but I wouldn't go for the world one)

Of course in an iDeco it would be double taxation(once in the originating country and once in the US, except for the us stocks held in the vanguard fund).

For the world stock, the management fee is also reasonable but marginally more expensive than creating your own mix. It's not much more expensive though, and it would automatically rebalance the component stocks(japan, developing and developed), which is neat, so it's not a bad deal if you don't mind the extra taxation on dividends. You're ultimately paying some extra taxes and management fees for convenience

If your japanese is ok, http://siegeljiro.com/rakuten-vt-bunseki does a reasonable rundown on it. Hoping that ideco will eventually offer emaxis slim...

Thanks jcc!
Great info, and with Google translate I could understand the gist of the link fine...
I've read good things about the eMaxis Slim funds -fingers crossed they introduce them to the iDeCo lineup...
For now, I'm tempted to try the Rakuten VT to start with -only as a small % of my portfolio. When I set up my NISA though, I'll likely pick the eMaxis Slim funds...
