NISA - Kakutei Shinkoku, etc

Quick question that just came to mind - is there any end-of-year form/ tax form etc, where I need to declare the assets I have in my NISA or non-NISA wrapped investment account?

I use NISA through Rakuten, and I did sign up with the "handle taxes for me", but not sure if I still need to declare anything? I also have some assets in the non-NISA wrapped part of the account (and will have even more soon as I need to start investing in bonds as well...). I didn't fill out a kakutei shinkoku last year, and hoping I don't need to deal with more paperwork, but of course if it is a necessity I will!

Thanks!

No need to declare NISA or iDeCo. As long as you have a 確定口座(源泉徴収あり) account, no need to declare anything in your taxable account either.

I believe the above is true, but if anyone has information to the contrary please do post it, we're all here to learn including me :D

This is mostly true ;) . If you are required to give a full listing of your assets on the 財産債務調書 then that will include your NISA account. I don't have iDeCo but assume it would also be included in that listing. This isn't a declaration of interest or capital gains, just the total account balance on December 31st of each year.

When would this kick in? High income?

A little bit of both:

Ah, 20m in income or 300m in assets (100m in overseas assets).

Should be okay

My Japanese isn't perfect, but the かつ would mean 20m in income and 300m in assets ... no?

Thanks for the replies. I should just be okay - it really does scare me though how there's so many random forms which I have no idea about ^^'.

To anyone who is wiser than me, my salary is 18.9M but with the RSU I am provided by my company, it goes a little above 20m. It won't have done last year, but will this year, so I assume I will need to fill one of these forms out?

I think you need to meet both the asset test as well as income test before that form is required. You will have to file an individual tax return (確定申告) if your income is above 20 million yen.

That is also my understanding!
