hit the dreaded middle name issue..

bank account name and application on monex has no middle name but the nenkin book name has the middle name..
monex are saying this is not acceptable and the bank account name has to be changed...i have had this account for over 20years with no issues...
is there any way round this?

Is the middle name on your bankbook "connected" to your first name? Or are there 3 distinct names?

If the first case is true, just reapply with your names connected. That is what they asked me to do. Worked a charm.

You are using the paper form, right? The website states all foreign clients need to apply via the mail-in form.

Strange that the bank let you sign up that way. I would say they are the ones at fault here, I believe your account is supposed to match your Gaijin card.

I would bite the bullet and open a new account. Yucho takes 1/2 an hour and is pretty hassle-free.

this was 25yrs ago.such rules were not in place then.... seems bank can change it..however does it have to be in english or katakana or doesnt matter? nenkintechou is in katakana does it have to be the same as that??

As far as I know, nenkintechou does not matter at all.

My account is in Katana. I used Katakana to sign-up for Rakuten and Monex.

Example:
Adam Bryan Carlos

Passbook and Investment Accounts would look like:

カルロス、アダムブライアン

Monex actual has my name in English as well

Carlos, Adambryans

i see--thanks.. nenkintechou links to the name on the government pension account ..monex told me that the bank account has to be same as the pension account and the application..which would mean that i need to add the middle name to the bank account.. if pension account name not relevant then wont bother changing bank account name..

Perhaps things might be different in your case. My bank has never asked about my nenkintechou, nor has either security company (Rakuten or Monex).

They only wanted my zairyū kādo, drivers licence and my number notification card. (Soon they will demand the full my number card).

This could be relevant if you are receiving a pension perhaps? However, my nenkintechou matches my zairyū kādo.

zairyuu kado,drivers license is in romaji with middle name
nennkintechou is katakana with middle name
bank account katakana without middle name..

Sorry for not being clear.

Typically on these forms, I write my name in Romaji and then put the katakana in the furigana space.

That is what I have always done with official forms. Seems to work fine.
