With the exception of the family support and government loans most of these government subsidies and grants will be counted as part of your salary when you file your tax return next year. I recommended the rental support to a fellow school owner, and he wouldn't take it because of this and he suffered quite a reduction of turnover.
Yeah I knew that. And no such thing as free money... without something attached to it.In this case, being taxed on it.I gotta check but I don't think I'd necessarily qualify for rental support, being that I work from home and paying off a house loan!

Cool, glad to hear that. Did you receive any notification email when they sent it?

I just got a card now stating the monies had been put into the account!

Hello everyone,

I actually applied as a sole proprietor. After 3 or 4 days I got an email to resubmit the "ledger" at which point I searched online and found a Jp blog post that gave a template for the ledger as well as some advice on writing clearly 0¥ in one line for the month instead of just not writing anything for that month at all.

I got paid about 1 week later. They pay based on the information you volunteer. I guess they will check the tax form next year to confirm who needed it?

1. 100,000 yen payout to every resident of Japan, including children. Apply online or wait until you receive the postal application from your local government.
2. 1m or 2m payment to self-employed/small businesses. Need to show a drop in income (month this year vs. month last year). The payout is capped at 1m for sole proprietor or 2m for small business, or 12x your monthly loss, whichever is smaller.
3. possible rent subsidy (not sure of the details on this one, but I heard up to 500,000 yen a month for six months)
4. grant for closing over Golden Week/state of emergency. This depends on local government. Sendai is offering 400,000 yen, or up to 800,000 yen for multiple branches/locations.
5. loans of various types. Possibly no-interest, no collateral, and maybe even restricted to the business (ie no personal liabilty). Haven't looked into this year. Might also need a 50% loss of income.
6. wage support for furloughed staff: up to 90 or 100% of wages for furloughed staff. This seems like an absolute pain to apply for, and few people have actually gotten the money yet.
7. ¥300,000 subsidy (not loan) for companies from city hall. We got one anyway, no idea about other cities. It wasn't widely publicised so it's worth checking in with your city to see if there's anything similar available.

Is that different from 4. above? Do you know what it is called?

Yes, it's different. Here it is:

Basically, only criteria is to be the recipient of a crisis loan from a recognised lender. Mrs Woozy reckons this is to save them the hassle of coming up with their own criteria. I'm guessing nobody on this forum lives in my city (if you do, message me and let's grab a coffee). I'm sharing this as an example of the kind of thing that may be available in your city. Note that the application period has already closed in my city so if you plan to enquire wherever you live it may be better to do it ASAP. Hope this helps someone.

I do not live there, but I did teach kinki nurses in Izuka about 10 years ago. I think I just did so I could tell all my mates that I was teaching Kinki nurses at Kinki University on a Monday morning.

 And what, pray tell, did you teach your kinki nurses?

The criteria for the subsidy have been loosened. Some freelancers, and businesses that were only opened this year, can now apply. Some info here:

Next subsidy is here for companies and sole proprietors. It's way beyond my Japanese level but even I can read the deadline is 31 May and the juicy number is ¥600,000:

Don't know about you guys, but we're in desperate need of it, that's for sure.
