Indeed. The real injustice isn't that some people get asked to show ID. It's that we can't organise ourselves in such a way that everyone has access to the healthcare they need.

I had had a hernia operation with them about five years ago, and my son had been taken into their A & E when he had a cycling accident four years ago. I wasn't denied treatment, and I was dealt with promptly. Legally they're were entitled to treatment as an emergency, but they weren't entitled to anything more unless they payed full price. I think Legally we could charge up to 150% of the actual cost. They don't use up a lot of money as a total % of the budget but it is enough to impact the hospital/patient at the local level, who DIDN't get their operation, treatment. So i am happy to provide photo I.D at the local hospital, and they've known me for years so they don't ask anymore as they keep it on file. So the photocopy makes sense to me. The hospital and drug store photo copy our health card, and so long as I see them withing the 3 months, they don't ask again and they are linked together. So it's pretty painless for now.

Oh totally! In that case I be pissed. Nobody should be allowed to rummage through any of your belongings without consent and a witness. I agree but some countries don’t have an I.D card system proving residency. And some I.d cards don’t have a photo leaving it open to abuse, but the politicians or administrators don’t want to say to everyone.
