Personal Finance for Residents of Japan

This is not correct. Residence tax calculations include miscellaneous income and dividends (when not withheld at source - although I'm not sure of the details).
Thanks for that link. I have been going by the income summary paper I get from my workplace, but I may be due for a bit more allowance.adamu wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 10:27 amThis is not correct. You can calculate your residence tax here: https://juuminzei.com/keisan/
ok-question for you-wifes salary went down as management position changed from schoolyr change april-though it was a promotion (figure that one out!)therefore trying to calculate how much furusato nozei can use -as will be different from last yrtaneandy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 4:36 amThe simulator on furusato choice has an explanation for each item you can input.bryanc wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 3:20 am as you say is accurate-thanks
dont have the 源泉徴収票 so can i just put in the 社会保険total from one month and multiply by 12??
as you say-adding in the medical bills to be discounted (around 400000yen) seemed to take the total down quite substantially...do i put in the amount i am requesting for tax return or the actual tax return amount?
The item for 社会保険 is actually 社会保険等 which also seem to include 厚生年金、雇用保険 and so on, which means you probably need to multiply the total you are paying for those each month by 12 to get an estimate for the yearly amount.
As far as I know you just have to estimate. That's why it's good to leave a healthy buffer below the maximum amount. You could technically calculate the shakai hoken by looking up the bands, but I'm not sure of the details. In the worst case your efforts to get free stuff could backfire as just paying more tax. Better to be safe than sorry, and make the buffer smaller once income is relatively stable over multiple years.bryanc wrote: ↑Sat Oct 30, 2021 3:30 am ok-question for you-wifes salary went down as management position changed from schoolyr change april-though it was a promotion (figure that one out!)therefore trying to calculate how much furusato nozei can use -as will be different from last yr
but having problems calculating shakai hoken etc-any easy way to do this?
the calculator on furusato choice seems affected drastically by the shakaihoken paid amount-
dreadful pain that have to do it before the actual gensan statement comes in january-is that by design?!
I give myself a 10% cushion.adamu wrote: ↑Sat Oct 30, 2021 6:45 amAs far as I know you just have to estimate. That's why it's good to leave a healthy buffer below the maximum amount.
