That makes a lot of sense, since most if not all of the people I know with dual citizenship have a Japanese mom and an American (military) dad.

You do realize that most international marriages in Japan are between a Japanese man and a foreign woman, right?

I'm just talking about my personal experiences; like I said, everyone I know has a Japanese mom and an American dad.

You do realize that most international marriages in Japan are between a Japanese man and a foreign woman, right?
I know this is true (I understand that it is typically between a Japanese man living outside a major metropolis and a woman from China/Philippines/Korea) but I find it hard to remove my personal bias that the pairings I see in Roppongi are the dominant pattern. It is a good example of how different our everyday experience can be with reality for the country as a whole.

In my neighborhood in Tokyo, I am one of the few "white" foreigners. Quite a few international couples. Hiroo/Roppongi will skew your perspective.
