Does this mean we have to set it up, rather than Rakuten automatically renewing our TNISA into the NEW NISA this up for us?
Your current settings carry over. However, if you are in the fortunate position to afford to increase your monthly investments you may want to increase that to a maximum of 10 万 monthly.

With R-Cash (5万) and Credit card (5万) you can gain .5% points monthly (500 points). Which more than covers the fee of most mutual funds.
Thanks for confirming that. I will make a single large deposit in January.
Then carry on.
If you do intend to use the Tsumitate Nisa floor, bonus setting, would you please document it? Those settings tend to be cumbersome and confusing.

I plan to lump sum the Growth Floor with assets sold from my taxable account but continue with a tsumitate in the Tsumitate Floor to reinforce good habits and farm some points.

FLOOR? Is that a typo for fund?

I was just going to do the orange SPOT PURCHASE BUTTON. スポット購入.

Floor, frame, Tranche, portion etc. All nouns to describe the new Nisa being split between 240万 growth / 120万 Tsumitate a year.

You can only make spot purchases in the Growth frame. Limited to 240万 a year, 1200万 lifetime.

Really? Is it not currently possible to set up tsumitate regular payments in the legacy Regular NISA? I guess I have never tried, just assumed you could.

I think what Tsumitate Wrestler meant was Spot Purchases are only possible in the growth frame and Tsumitate portion doesn't allow spot purchases.

I have done my tsumitate (regular addition) set up in the Growth portion too.

On a related note, can anyone enlighten me if there are additional charges for making multiple tsumitate settings as opposed to once a month.
For example, if I do tsumitate on 10th, 20th and 30th of a month or even daily tsumitate, am I paying some additional charges somewhere? (like transaction costs? fund transfer cost, bank charges, hidden 手数料?)
Just out of curiosity.

Correct, thank you for clarifying the ambiguous language. Spot purchases are exclusive to the growth frame is what I should have said.

Daily Tsumitate, basically means that they scoop the monthly amount in one go, and buy on every market day of the month. I think the opportunity cost of your money sitting with the broker uninvested is the only downside.

So long as growth and the tsumitate are both tax efficient. I’m good with that.
Boy! Is it just me…. But do the Japanese really know how to make things more complicated than it should be?
Probably just me! LoL
It’s amazing they built such an amazing complicated high speed rail network that’s awesome. Give them a computer, and I feel it's more complicated than it should be.

 Simple explanations aren’t really in their lexicon.

No, I think you may be on to something there…
My theory is that Japan’s culture of committees and compromises to accommodate most all opinions overrides any attempts at keeping things simple.

It’s a separate topic, but on WBS this week they were covering government tax panel discussions about increasing the amount of some 交際費 deduction from 5,000 yen to 20,000 yen. To me there is no sense to the preponderance of carveouts in the tax system… and I never get to use this 交際費 deduction myself so that means those like me are the ones who pay for the carveout enjoyed by whoever does use this deduction. I see NISA, iDeCo, etc etc, in a similar vein… but at least I can benefit from them.

I would be very careful about painting this tendency as something special or unique to Japan, it exists in other cultures.
