no pump, you can buy a very small one, I guess.

I like the challenge, my best was filling it up with 10 deep and long breaths. 15~20 is most common.
15~20 lung full of air doesn't sound too bad for a night of comfort.
I will put this in my list of things to add in the future. (may be for next year spring treks)
Already stretching my budget with many other things for now.

Yesterday, I bought entry level rain jackets from Montbell's factory outlet. Got Montbell Thunderpass at 20% off, and Montbell Rain Hiker for around 35% off. Both of them were last year's models, so big discount.

And for sleeping bags, we purchased one Nanga UDD Bag 380DX and another Montbell Seamless Down Hugger 800 #3.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

you're very welcomed!

I bought a Montbell Seamless Burrow Bag #3 last March for a hiking trip I was supposed to do in Yakushima, which was postponed unfortunately.... I'll try it out in a month though, if I manage to go back to Tateyama as I am planning 🤞

Where is the Montbell's factory outlet? I wasn't aware of it!

The one that I went to is in Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Tsurumi (2 Chome-7-70 Mattaomiya, Tsurumi Ward, Osaka, 538-0031)
That place has manufacturer's sales outlet for many brands: Levi's, Colombia, Nike, Puma, Crocs,...
The new products aren't really priced differently than other stores (sometimes it could be more expensive)
But you'll get marked down prices for older stocks, or for stuff which they want to move quickly. (scored a JPY 2000 Levi's jeans for my wife yesterday!)

There is one of these 5m walk from my home in Sendai, so I'm guessing they are all over the country :)

There are self-inflating (auto-inflating) sleeping pads.

Scrunching them down when rolling them up pushes the air out. To fill them just let them unroll and fill themselves--they spring back naturally to the 'inflated' state.

Nice. I'll check them out. (mostly for second year of gear accumulation though, for now budget is stretched with all the bare essentials)
If you have any particular brands or models that you like, please share!

As Ben mentioned in the post above, I think they have such stores or malls throughout the country.
Try searching for outlet malls or outlet shops in your area in Katakana.

first few years of living in Japan/studying Japanese: why does Kanji looks like ants moving around and so difficult!!
After few years in Japan: Kanji's are life savers and Katakana were created to make me suffer for my sins from previous life!
