Normally the reference number will be attached to the transaction itself, so you would enter it at the same time as you entered the amount to send.

Seems others are having the issue with name not matching the number on that account. Maybe ask Wise for help?

I am trying to pay class 3 contributions for 2024-2025 using Wise, but I am having trouble understanding how to enter the necessary information to carry out the transfer. Is there a ‘dummies’ guide anywhere explaining exactly how to use the Wise interface to pay such HMRC contributions?

I have Wise but have never used it for HMRC so can't help.
I do Japanese bank account--> Wise --> NatWest --> HMRC.
A few more steps, but it has worked so far. Touch wood.
