“id” seems to be more widely accepted than Quick Pay, at least in my area, which is annoying as my credit card company is linked to Quick Pay for Apple Pay purposes.
I have no idea how the Japanese system evolved into such a mess. When I’m in the UK I don’t need to say anything to the staff - just hold my Apple Watch or iPhone near the contactless reader - done, with a text message a few minutes later confirming the amount and place. Almost everywhere. We do love to re-invent the wheel here and make things more complicated than they need to be, don’t we?!
