This!
We had our living room aircon cleaned for the first time in 12 years a few months back... It has an inbuilt cleaning function that removes dust which we've yearly emptied & washed, but the amount of black mould, gunk, that came out when it was professionally cleaned was hideous!

Wish I "knew a guy". We all need "a guy". Good stuff. And good to know that the cleaning services are sort of a scam. Did he mention what part of the service is scammy?
Our final cost:
80,000 for the unit and 30,000 for the installation.
ooouuu, that's a good price. Hopefully, they won't charge you extra on the installation on the day-of. If there is anything special about your installation that is not "standard" (like needing to add extra pipe from a 2nd floor to ground floor), they will charge you up the yin-yang.
We got the quote all inclusive. He's installed three in other rooms so he knew the layout.
I didn't talk to him directly, but apparently the inside unit can be cleaned well enough by the owner. Many have self-cleaning modes now too. The outside unit is pretty robust I guess. Ours went 20 years with zero maintenance.

A lot probably depends on what your humidity and dust levels are. We have very little mold, just a bit in the bathroom.

To the surprise of absolutely no one that has been paying even scant attention to my living situation.

The air-con is broken again.

Why don't you call the manufacturer service line?
